MingPath turns the traditional systems of BaZi, the Five Phases, and the I Ching into clear, culturally grounded insight — for reflection, not prediction. Begin with your free Element Snapshot.
Your Chart Profile isn't a one-off report — it's the data hub of the whole site. Enter it once; every tool below reads from it. No second birthday prompt.

Six tools, three tiers. The top tier generates your data; the middle tier consumes it and prefills; the outer tier stands alone. Each card shows exactly which part of your chart it reads.

BaZi is roughly a thousand years older than the Western horoscope and substantially more detailed: where sun-sign astrology works from one position, BaZi works from eight. MingPath turns those eight characters into a readable chart — and explains every rule it used to get there.
Your birth moment — year, month, day and hour — written as four pairs of characters. Those eight describe the balance of five energies you were born with. Not a quiz, not a horoscope: a structured description of a starting condition.
The grammar underneath everything else. Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water, Water generates Wood — and each phase also controls another.
The oldest text in the Chinese canon, and the only one that is also a method. Sixty-four hexagrams cast from six throws of three coins, read as an image of a situation and its momentum.
Clocks run on administrative time; BaZi was built on local sun time. The correction for longitude and the equation of time can move a birth across an hour-branch boundary.
Enter a birth date, time and place once and the site computes your Four Pillars, Day Master, element balance and the phases that help or hinder you. No account, no email.
Thirteen chapters covering the Ten Gods pattern, the ten-year luck cycles, annual layers and life-area readings — free, and exportable as a PDF.
The naming tool balances sound, meaning, form and element against your own chart, and returns options with pinyin and English meanings.
The compatibility reading scores five classical dimensions — element complement, Day Master relation, branch relations, luck-cycle rhythm and communication temper.
The Learn hub and the blog cover the stems, the branches, the twelve animals, true solar time, the Day Master and the luck cycles, written for readers meeting the tradition for the first time.
A BaZi chart is arithmetic on a fixed calendar: given the same birth moment, the same eight characters come out, every time, for everyone. Any tool that returns a different reading on refresh is writing text, not calculating a chart.
On MingPath the calculation runs in your browser, following the standard rules — the lunisolar calendar with its 立春 year boundary, true solar time correction for longitude and the equation of time, and the classical derivation of the pillars, the Ten Gods and the luck cycles. The methodology page documents each step, and the boundary between what the tradition computes and what we interpret.
There is no account and no server-side profile. Birth details stay in your own browser's local storage, and the chart is computed on your device. The site is funded by display advertising. Nothing about your chart is transmitted, sold or shared.
