Chinese metaphysics is one of the oldest continuously practised systems of self-description in the world, and most of what is written about it in English is either a novelty or a sales pitch. Between the two there is very little: almost nothing that explains what BaZi actually calculates, where the rules come from, and what the tradition itself refuses to claim.
MingPath was built to fill that gap. We take the classical systems — the Four Pillars, the Five Phases, the I Ching, the naming tradition — and present them accurately, in plain English, for readers who did not grow up inside the culture that produced them.
A reflection tool. You enter a birth moment; the site computes a chart according to the traditional rules and explains what that chart describes. It is closer to a well-made instrument than to a publication: the output depends on your input, and the method is documented so you can check it.
The whole calculation runs in your browser. We do not hold accounts and we do not keep your birth data.
We hold to four rules across every page on the site.
Three groups, mostly. Readers from outside Chinese culture who want to understand what these systems actually are rather than what a fortune-telling site says they are. Members of the Chinese diaspora who grew up around the vocabulary — 八字, 五行, 生肖 — without ever having the rules explained. And people who simply want to try the calculation on their own birth moment and see whether the description rings true.
By display advertising. We do not run sponsored content, we do not sell editorial placement, and no advertiser sees or influences a reading.
The full report is free. There is no account, no subscription and no checkout anywhere on MingPath.
Accuracy about the tradition, honesty about its limits, and a clear line between the two. Everything on this site is offered for cultural, educational and reflective purposes. It is not a substitute for medical, financial, legal or psychological advice, and we state that on every page where it matters rather than only in the terms.
Corrections, questions about the method, and privacy requests are all welcome. Write to the address on the contact page, and read the methodology page if you want the detail of how the charts are computed.
